Children's day: misquote!!

I am a complete newbie to the blogging world. But thanks to a few friends who encouraged me directly and indirectly to start blogging!

Today i got the trigger about the mentioned topic from person i least expected from.... My manager.... He said - "As if only nehru loved children"....  Come on think about it..
Why glorify his name with the children's day tag, with all due respect to his affection for the kids. havent the congress painted the country enough with the Gandhian name (patronage) all over.
To be very fair i too regard him as one of the able constructors of the democracy, but does democracy mean nepotism, or is it the pet of any one with the "gandhi" surname within the congress and eventually Indian govt.
Friends dont mistake me with digression. The topic i have chose to blog is much more symbolic than what it meets the eye. Why is it that only the descendents of the "immortal" family are considered the "leader" and the "savior" even before they prove themselves. Why is that everywhere i go all the universities, roads, govt hospitals and other establishments/schemes named after them only. And it seems all the more hypo critic when the ardent followers of this culture question mayawati for glorifying her and leaders of her community! By no way i mean that i am a supporter of mayawati or BSP... am just drawing the parallels.

Why doesn't my countrymen even know of Shyama prasad mukherjee, Jayprakash Narayan and the emergency veterans! Do they want to even portray the emergency as the nugget of their "golden era"... Even close to their party why dont i hear and see establishments named after Bhagat singh, Vallabh bhai patel, Lal bahadur shastri and all...
I am just a curious commoner with unanswered questions!!
